About
Diane Falanga
Diane Falanga, owner and principle designer of Space Defined Interiors, has been creating sophisticated yet approachable residences for more than two decades. With an understanding that every client and space deserves to be treated respectfully in all elements of the process, Diane’s designs are thoughtful, timeless, captivating and comfortable. She believes that the bones of a home should be treated with integrity; that homeowners should be carefully listened to and respected; that re-purposing pieces and “shopping the home” is essential and exciting; that room-to-room flow and connectivity is key; that budget matters; and that every space in the home should be well-used and enjoyed.
Diane’s goal is to make sure her clients love coming home and feel the “wow factor” every time they cross the front door’s threshold. With a keen eye to even the smallest details and finishing touches, Diane collaborates every step of the way with her clients so each space fits in beautifully with the owner’s lifestyle and personality. She knows that positive surroundings matter and truly affect our happiness and emotional well-being. (Diane is also President of the Board of Directors of the Chicago-based nonprofit, Designs for Dignity. To learn more about this charitable organization and Diane's involvement, see COMMUNITY.)
Diane’s vision extends beyond interior spaces. She's combined her love for world exploration and design by launching a travel service guiding travelers off the beaten path: Destination Defined. She is also the author of two non-fiction books, published by Abrams Books NY, which were featured in/on People Magazine, Redbook, The Today Show, CBS Sunday Morning and National Public Radio. The television rights were optioned to Original Productions and ABC to adapt for Disney Television.
Together with her husband, Mark, Diane has raised two children. She lives in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood.
